How can I find a company hiring foreign workers in Boston?
I have a friend from South Korea who's looking to work in Boston this winter. She has recently graduated from a Korean university with a bachelors in International Trade. Ideally, she'd like to get an internship in her field, but realistically in this job market she's willing to work at a coffee shop, etc. that could sponsor her working visa. Her English is very advanced though not fluent. We've looked at organizations like CIEE but they don't guarantee preferential city placement - she'd really like to be in Boston. Any thoughts on how she could proceed? Thanks!
coffee shops and other jobs which do not require a degree are never going to get her a work visa.
She has to look for jobs where she actually can use her degree. Given the number of universities in Boston, if she can find a position in her field at an university she can get a J1 visa. Though I am not sure if a bachelors degree is going to be sufficient for that.
Otherwise companies who do a lot of trade with South Korea? Being picky about location is not going to help. Using an organization like CIEE is probably going to be much much easier than finding something by oneself.
