What type of charges can a person press against me for throwing a plastic cup with tea in it at them?
THe cops sais they wouild have an investigating officer to contact me after they ran me down from my description the girls gave them.
Depends on how your jurisdiction defines the criminal offenses. But, generally, possible charges will be battery if you made contact with her or assault if there was no contact.
More importantly, do not give a staement to the police. You are under no obligation to give a statement to the police. If you are contacted by the police and they ask for your side of the story, simply tell that you are not going to make any statement until you speak to your lawyer. They cannot force you to make a statement and they can't arrest you because they didn't see the crime occur in their presence.
If charges are filed against you, then you will get a public defender (assuming that you can't afford to hire an attorney).
Your attorney will then conduct discovery to determine how strong their case is against you and determine whether you have any strong arguments for self-defense or whether they can even prove thier case. Your attorney can then advise you of your options i.e. whether you should enter a plea bargain or go to trial.
Remember, they have the burden of proving guilt. You are not required to prove your innocense. At this point, you should not discuss the situation anyone. You should wait and see whether charges are filed. But, definitely do not give a statement to the police because whatever you state can be used against you in court. It is to your advantage that you keep silent.
